It’s been a long time in the preparation, but we are finally about to jet off for a month overseas – mainly to spend time with family and friends in Germany and the UK.
Over the past few weeks, the Ambry family machine has kicked into gear and we have chipped away at a myriad of things that need to be done before we go.
As you might expect:
- the level of excitement among the kids has grown to a crescendo; and
- I have had less time than I would like to spend on this blog or my photography. I have missed out on strobist shoots and social events. But hey, I better not complain given where I am about to go for a whole month!
I will probably not be posting here until we get back, unless there is something particularly relevant. For one thing, I will be taking lots of photos but will not have my laptop, so can do limited post processing (bad for me, good for domestic bliss).
However, I have set myself a few projects to give me a photographic focus while I am away, and I look forward to sharing the results with you when I get back:
- Shoot a brace a great landscapes with the intention of converting them to black and white. I am tossing up whether I should add to the challenge by specifying a square format as well. I recently discovered a great series of images by bruce percy and this is my inspiration for this project;
- Capture a mix of images that I can put together in a blurb book of our trip. I have meant to try blurb books for some time, but not gotten around to it yet;
- Shoot a great portrait of each person / family we visit, so that we can share these images with everyone back in Oz; and
- Shoot a strong series of wedding shots in Ireland (our attendance at this wedding is the original reason for the trip).
I have set up a blog specifically for teh trip. It’s called “Odyssey d’Ambry” and is the best way to follow along with our journey. Enjoy, and see you in September!
